MANAGEMENT

People seem to doubt me when I say that I have always kept learning and built everything myself, with this as a result. Usually they say, you can't do all this yourself, it's too much! Which I then tell them in all honesty! As incredible as it sounds, but it's true, believe it or not. Think about this for a moment... You work between 14 and 16 hours every day, which means you wake up with it and go to bed with it. The moment you rest, you think about how to structure your thoughts, how to be more specific and delineated.

ARCHITECTURE

I knew something was missing and started looking for the missing parts in my story. I asked myself what I enjoyed doing, what is that one thing that made my head spin and held my attention? What did I like in school and so on. For me, that was drawing. Drawing with the computer, drawing by hand. Drawing gave me a certain kind of freedom, a way to expose myself to the world we live in. From my studies in architecture, everything began to change. This is part of a story that took seven years in evening school. 12 hours a week at school combined with work and lots of study and work hours at home.

LIKE A ROLLERCOASTER

When the trolley leaves the station, it always ends up back in the same place. In between, this trolley survived a series of turns, curls and being tossed back and forth. The start of this trolley began with the jet pulling the trolley up only to blow gently off the tower and comb its hair back in the right direction. A playful comparison that offers the adventure the word, an expressed thought that encompasses the truth.

CHASE YOUR DREAMS

A few years ago, I heard someone say what happens when you start chasing your dreams. At first it seemed impossible to think this way, but now I have to confirm that this is the truth. I don't know why this happens, but it happens. Many of the people you know and also those close to you are beginning to change, they are changing because they are getting older, but they are also changing because they don't understand what you are doing and why you are doing it. They don't understand the work you do every day, what the purpose of engagement actually is, and how to separate that from daily habits.

MORTAL KOMBAT

I started playing Mortal Kombat in 1992, the very first MK game ever made. At the time of writing, I am 44 years old and still a big fan of this game. I am not much of a gamer, but I bought a Playstation 5 to play MK. It relieves my stress after a hard day's work and allows me to focus on the next day. The buttons got easier with age, but I remember MK3 well, when I knew every button and fatality by heart. I was still living at home, so I had a lot of time to invest in it...

OPPORTUNITIES ARE EVERYWHERE

I just decided to write off all the things that keep me busy and keep me away from the things that really matter. Things that influence our daily lives. But first of all I want to say, “I love writing.” I hope you enjoy reading? The second and by far the most important reason for writing is that it clears my mind. It puts a stop to my ability to analyze and think and it creates space for more new opportunities.

A PIECE OF PAPER

While working as an architectural draftsman, I always marveled at the creativity with which measurements were taken or rather how they were noted down. Contractors arrived with a torn-off corner of newspaper, on it the measurements and with any luck you could then still enjoy their breakfast or lunch, making the situation look funny and causing hilarious scenes.

HAVE SOME FUN

In building my own business, I had to look for new opportunities. It is not easy to do everything alone and learn everything on my own, but the power that fuels me to realize my dream of creating something that helps others, took me to different places where I enjoyed a lot. Don't misunderstand this subject, you have to work, work hard, for the people who want to live and enjoy to the fullest by creating fun for others. So have fun!

TOGETHER FOR A CLEAN PLANET

You probably like to go on vacation, as do I, for that matter. Preferably by backpack. This has allowed me to travel to different locations and also discover the culture as it really is. Living, experiencing and discovering what is not in the books. Then when I have the opportunity to book a faraway trip, I like to see it clean. Take as an example a beach with shells, palm trees, etc.... but not a beach with cigarette butts. Together for a clean planet!

YOU HAVE TO FIGHT FOR IT

If you think starting a business is easy, it's not. You have to fight for it! I created my product based on 25 years of work and study. I faced the difficulties of starting a business and I still face them, but that doesn't mean you have to give up. I looked for solutions and those solutions brought me in contact with people in different places. As you can see, I'm an entrepreneur but not afraid to get my hands dirty. If you have a dream, go for it, face it and build that dream.

WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE QUITTING

If the fear of measuring is bothering you, this is precisely why you need to learn it. The best way to learn this is by taking action. I had finished my training in architecture but detailed measurement was also a new beginning for me. Why? There are so many things that come into play when a measurement needs to be done. Think about the height of the profiles, the dimensions of the glass, the deviations in the plaster. All follow-up, better called production/placement depends on the measurement you make.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING

The most important thing is for people to get to know you. The most important thing for me is that people get to know me. The most important thing is being honest and sincere. I never knew my father and lost my brother when I was 4. I lost my home due to a relationship breakdown but this did not change my outlook, my purpose nor my character. It made me smarter and provided more insight. It just taught me what was unprecedented and it reinforced my vision and the goals I had in mind.

INNOVATIVE SKILLS

How to measure is an innovative skill. A skill that comes from my own experience. Why do I choose this because I believe this skill brings people together. It help those who do not understand what measurement is and it helps people understand the purpose of the work and what happens to create one single product. You may be thinking "what is this sh*t" but think further. How often are there misunderstandings, complaints, discussions between people on the team? Most people want to protect their jobs and only do what they asked. In one way they listen, but in another way they don't care, it's not their responsibility.

ACTION EQUALS INSPIRATION

I always thought there was more to life. Life did not consist only of working, getting married, building a house, having children and dying. These things kept me busy, but I didn't understand everything. Studying gave me the opportunity to seek new challenges, and as you grow there are more opportunities. I didn't hesitate when something went bad in my life. I recognized the mistakes I make and tried to learn from them. The first thing people do is look for the mistakes in themselves, but when something doesn't work, it's not always your fault. Maybe people don't understand what your goal is and need more information. You may have a different way of thinking, as well as seeing things in a different way.

WHAT'S MY SPIRIT

Born in 1979 I grew up without the Internet, no I phone, no PC, no tablet, it just didn't exist back then. I grew up with pencil and paper. I learned to draw at a very young age. It gave me the opportunity to learn, grow and find solutions to problems. When I drew, I could think, and when I thought, I found solutions. After all these years and the rise of the Internet, drawing is still my passion. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I don't think you learn the necessary by using a program. It's simple, the programs do everything for you. In one way it can make us faster and smarter, but in another way also dumber. Without the Internet or a smart phone, we will be happy if there is a paper to help us. The only thing that makes history a part of us are libraries.

OUT OF EUROPE

One of my first trips outside Europe was Kenya. A childhood dream come true. I knew that I was not the kind of person who could lie by a pool all day and wanted to discover the world and traveling as a backpacker gave me that opportunity. I had worked for several years and had a piggy bank so i decided to go on the adventure and booked a group trip that took me through Kenya. Our guide was a photographer with several years of experience about Kenya. We traveled from one corner to another, by bus, public transport, went on safari, got in touch with the culture, nature, people. Truly amazing!

FROM ARCHITECTURE TO HOW TO MEASURE

When I was 25 years old, I felt something was missing, something to fuel my ambition and my creativity. I started by refreshing my knowledge of AutoCAD. I found a Saturday morning training and got in touch with someone who was studying architecture. I was interested and was suggested to participate in an introductory. It wasn't long before I made up my mind and began a study tour that would last 7 years, I was given the chance to learn from a civil engineer-architect an opportunity I could not pass up.
